Sakh’umndeni Psycho-social Program

Promote the importance of mental health and psychosocial support to prevent mental health issues such as mood, anxiety, eating, personality, and psychotic disorders.

Key to our programs Psychosocial Support Program, is the provision of respite care for individuals suffering from mental health issues and disabilities. Respite care is crucial as it offers temporary relief to family members who are primary caregivers. It allows them to take a break, reduce stress, and maintain their own health, thereby promoting a healthier home environment.

Our respite care program is more than just a break for families; it is a comprehensive support system designed to improve the quality of life for both the individuals in our care and their families. We offer day care services that include cognitive learning stimulation education, ensuring that our beneficiaries continue to engage their minds and maintain their cognitive abilities.

Recognizing the importance of physical health in mental well-being, we also provide physical exercises. Additionally, we understand the role of nutrition in overall health, so we provide meals (breakfast and lunch) to those in our care. We also offer treatment adherence support to ensure that individuals are following their prescribed treatment plans.

Understanding that the benefits of good nutrition should extend beyond our facilities, we provide monthly food parcels for our beneficiaries to take back to their families. This ensures continuous nutritional support at home, further aiding in their recovery and well-being.

School-Based Outreach Support Program

Lorna N Foundation’s School-Based Outreach Support Program. This initiative is designed to ensure that children remain in school and receive comprehensive support in various aspects of their lives.

Here are some of the key activities included in our program:

  1. Health Education: We provide health education sessions to equip students with knowledge about various health issues, preventive measures, and the importance of maintaining good health.
  2. Referrals to Services: Recognizing that some students may need additional support, we provide referrals to various services such as counselling, medical services, and academic support.
  3. Provision of Hygiene Packs for Girls: Understanding the specific needs of our female students, we provide hygiene packs to ensure they can comfortably and confidently attend school.
  4. After-School Activities: To promote cultural appreciation and holistic development, we offer after-school activities that include traditional/cultural activities such as dancing and music. These activities provide a platform for students to express themselves, learn new skills, and appreciate their cultural heritage.

Our goal is to create an environment where students feel supported not just academically, but also socially and health-wise. We believe that by addressing these areas, we can help foster a conducive learning environment where students can thrive.
